Basically, brother Carter, and sister Sadie, are reunited and must work together after their father blows up the Rosetta Stone and himself(to a certain degree) after trying to make things right.

It does a wonderful job setting the tone for the series (based on his website there will be two more books). This book comes in at a little over 500 pages. As soon as it came in I was ready to read. I purchased this book on Amazon through the pre-order. I was very excited for this novel as I have taught ancient civilizations for five years when I used to teach sixth grade. Rick Riordan has moved away from Greek Mythology and tried his wits at Ancient Egyptian mythology. I just completed the latest book from Rick Riordan (author of the Percy Jackson Series). I give this book 9/10 because it kept me entertained the whole way through.I have finally returned to form and picked up some YA/Middle level books to read. As well as all the action, the story is also about sacrificing your happiness for the greater good and the author cleverly shows you how Carter and Sadie's relationship changes as they help each other fend off danger. This is a fast-paced adventure without a single dull moment the author has done a brilliant job of packing in masses of facts about Ancient Egypt and combining them into a wonderfully exciting story. As their quest to discover what has happened to their father progresses, they discover that they are descendants from an ancient bloodline dating back to the first Ancient Egyptian magicians. They hurtle from one exotic location to another using various forms of magical transport and portals. On their annual Christmas reunion, things change forever when their dad blows up the Rosetta Stone and disappears! The children are thrown into a world of Ancient Egyptian magic, talking baboons, mysterious magicians, and evil gods.
